Awesome gesture from our resident "Doc" Scott Sobolewski. Thanks again!!

That's really cool. So you have Rhome's auto and I'm 99% sure you got his "Rookie Card" from me which is the only card made of him durting his playing days.

And you'll note that unlike Tony Romo, Jerry Rhome did not drop the ball when he was the FG holder.

BTW I looked it up and you are correct about Jerry Tubbs being a player/coach. I did not know that. Tom Landry called him out of retirement not once, but twice to come back as an emergency backup linebacker as well as a coach. So just like me, Tom Landry recognized true greatness when he saw it!!!

Hey that is him! Do teams still have the backup QB hold for FG/XP? I would think the Romo incident would be enough to get all teams to change that formula.

I see a lot of punters as holders these days as well as back up QBs. I was wondering why Jerry Rhome was such a familiar name to me despite being a career back up QB and it is because he set all kinds of college passing records while playing at Tulsa. His prolific career got him inducted into the college football HOF. He also was instrumental in signing fellow Tulsa player Steve Largent with the Seahawks.

Funny you mention Steve Largent. Today I ran accros a little set from Pacific from 1989 featuring him. Kinda cool.
The only holder i really remember is Jay Novacek for the Cowboys in the 90s. I think not long ago they used the FB Leupke as the holder.
As soon as Romo became starter they should have immediately removed him from holding. They had plenty of time from Bledsoe going out until that game to find another holder... like the punter, as you said.

Is that from the same set as that Red Emmitt I recently traded to you? It looks like it but I'm not 100% sure of that.
Indeed it is! Got the Rice in a trade on that other trading site! Probably wouldn't have tried if it was a different variant... except "Gold" of course!! lol  .....Well, maybe not!! The Gold Momentum Hobby Jerry Rice is $150 BV... numbered to /25. I was able to snag a Gold Cowboys Momentum Hobby /25 of, ah-hem, Ernnie Mills.... exactly. lol I think I got it for around $10. BV is a nice $30... (y)

Is pack searching still a thing? They dont even sell loose packs around me.
I see them at every shop I go to... when I'm able to. Saw one guy in Kansas City have the seller put 4 hobby boxes in front of him. He proceeded to pick up 4 packs in each hand and look for the thickest one out of each box. I couldn't believe the guy behing the counter actually allowed this. It made me sick. I looked at them both and said man that's not cool. They thought I was playing and laughed... I just left the singles I had picked out on the counter and walked out.

The shop I frequented in Plano back in 2011/2012 would open a new hobby box and re-arrange the packs before someone asked to buy a pack or two, or three... they would put the opened box in front of the customer on the other side of the counter and actually hold on to the sides of the box. Not sure how much it helped but at least they tried to curb the vultures. I wasn't concerned cuz thats when I was buying 4 hobby boxes at a time... usually every other week. Shouldv'e been buying the singles then too!!
