Have you ever noticed that the uniforms of the 1960s and 70s are better looking than their more modern versions? THe Cowboys basically kept the same design with few alterations to their iconic uniforms which is good. For starters the Patriots, Broncos, Bucanneers, Titans/Oilers and especially the Chargers all changed their uniforms and every one of them is inferior looking to the earlier versions. I know about updating but I also know about leaving well enough alone , the latter philosophy should have been applied to so many NFL uniforms.
49ers... when they changed in the 90s and put the black in the Numbers to make them look like they had depth. The unis with just white numbers and 3 stripes on the sleeves is enough. I hate the color rush Jerseys especially Seattle's!

I always liked this card because it is from the set that Staubach's rookie card appears in. If memory serves Staubach appeared in 4 cards that year......his regular RC, an In Action card, NFC Passing Leaders and the one you just posted.

And miraculously, no Roger Staubach cards appeared in the near impossible to find 3rd series high numbers. There is a reason commons in that series book for approx. $20 or more!

Boy oh boy, the offensive stats were pretty bleak in this game. The only players to have decent statisical games were Cowboy running backs Duane Thomas and Walt Garrison. But then again, stats like those occur when the defenses are allowed to actually stop the offenses!!

A card from our good friend Jeff:
Emmitt Smith '91 Action Packed 24-Kt Gold
View attachment 101170
In the early 90s the Action Packed 24Kt gold cards were highly sought after especially the Emmitts. No one could ever seem to come up with many and never an Emmitt. Fast forward to 2022 and a guy came in to our LCS with about 25 24 kt gold cards and they were all Cowboys and mostly Emmitt Smiths! How he came up with so many of them, I have no idea unless he just kept buying them on EBAY.

I should have picked up more of them since the LCS owner owed me a ton of cards but I only picked up the 2 I traded you. He had different Emmitts than just the 2 I traded you including some from the offshoot Action Packed sets. THe problem was the high demand for these cards (as well as Emmitt Smiths' in general) had fallen off to nothing over the decades, so I only traded for the 1991 and 1992 regular issue ones. Unfortunately Emmitt was "yesterday's news" just like all the current hot cards of today will soon become.

I swear the incredible cards that came into our podunk town's LCS was insane. Mantles, Gretzky rookies, early tall boy basketball cards and on and on came into that store in the 2 years my friend owned it before he moved out of the area. And for the first time since 1987 or 88 my small town does not have a card store.

It's funny how much the 91 and 92 AP Gold cards go for on eBay now, though. And even funnier that people think the base set is Gold because the 'border' is Gold too. But the actual Gold Parallels really pop differently than the base set. I have a few other AP Golds of Emmitt, Aikman, and Irvin that are some of my favorite Gold cards..
If we had a card shop here it would be robbed in the first week it opened. Not saying it's dangerous here, but there are people that would be brazen enough to knock over a shop with cards potentially worth thousands. The closest shop to me is in Little Rock 2 hours away... in the nicer part of the city. Last time I was in they had a Jordan RC BGS 9 in one of the display cases. No way a shop could get away with that anywhere else in the city or possibly the state.
Anyway thanks again for the great cards... if u have any more Cowboys Gold u know where to find me!!

That happened to the longest running card shop in the Syracuse area not once, not twice but three times!!! Ironically, I knew both the victim and the ringleader of the smash and grabbers in this case. My list of aquanances seems to be very diverse! The perps in this case knew right what to go for which was all the latest unopened material. No singles, no vintage.......only unopened boxes.

Yeah, the sad thing is tthe one guy would go into the store and make deals with the owner as they he or they were casing the joint. That would suck finding out the perps were actually people you knew! I know the owner was super pissed when he found out who it was.

This store is in a nice area too and located on a very busy street and still this happened!
