What about stuff like Marvel and Star Wars cards? I know those don't apply for this draft but I'm just curious.

Just spot checked - looks like I have non-sports too. I knew I had MTG, but have star wars and marvel too

This sounds like a lot of fun! I actually have a slightly free couple of weeks and will be able to do this.

Going to be nice, I normally run these games on other forums, it will be fun to actually be able to play in one for a change.

In case it wasn’t clear…count me in!

(I will need help with Beckett pricing though.)

have updated with the three additional members...

Dave, thanks for helping Bri...I can also help too with pricing

I have to admit that I have never done fantasy football so I have no idea if a snake draft is better, but if that is what everyone feels is fair...I am ok with it...everyone...should I change it?
Snake drafts are by far the fairest way to draft. Only thing better is a re shuffle after every round. Thats a lot of work though.

Is the plan for everyone to post their five cards in this thread so the BVs can be validated?

I see a disadvantage to those that end up with picks late in each round. Snake draft is the fairest way for everyone to have a chance at getting a decent card after the first round. The number one pick will always get the best card in each round, which is where my concern is sprouting from. I'll jump in on this, but just wanted to give my opinion also.

I think a snake draft really is the best way to do this and really should be considered or this should be voted on by participants.

Think about this - regular draft with twelve teams, Benchie who gets the 1st overall also selects the 13th, 25th, 37th, and 49th cards. Last pick gets the 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th, and 60th. The person who picks last in round one gets a similar card to the first picks second choice. The disparity in quality increases as the draft goes on. I understand the point is to swap out stuff you don't want for items you do, but value does come in to play in these things, no matter what. I can tell you that the difference in value between the 1st and 12th card is a lot different than the 12th and 13th.

In a snake draft, the Benchie who is first overall gets his top choice but at least the person at the end of the first round gets to pick up two nice cards at the 12-13 spots. They may not get the one they had their eye on (like the person at #1 will) but they will probably find a couple cards to be happy with. The second pick for the person who was first is farther down than a straight draft but the value of the picks is more equitable.

I was trying to keep in simpler for my first try at this. I started collecting cards with non sports, so I am all for it. For version 2.0 ill open it to non sports and graded too.

Curtis...you are on the list...PM me any bb or fb and I can get you a bv thanks

no...once all cards are received then I will post a listing of all the cards at the same time...then I will announce a start date and time, and the official "tampering" period (trading of draft picks) will begin...I dont have time to check bv on 100 plus cards...taking it on good faith that you are adding cards that are at least $15 bv (and of course those asking for help with bv)

ok that brings us to 12...ill give it the day but going to be closing down the signup soon...

In the original draft I was involved in, all memebers voted on the cards they were interested in, and then draft order was determined by who sent in the nicest cards. So someone who sent in 5 $40 popular cards would most likely "draft" higher than someone who sent in 5 $20 less popular cards. But in my discussions setting this up we thought that would be too cumbersome.

Another idea (PRosefan1) was to base the draft order on total bv of cards sent in, which would work...I am just trying to avoid someone who sends in $200 worth of cards not have a shot at getting similar bv cards back.

ok you convinced me...I will modify for a snake draft now...but thinking it may be worth the time for an interest vote on the nicest cards the next time...thanks
