I used to think $4.00 was a high shipping cost.

When I was buying I used to think $4.00 for seller to charge for shipping was crazy, honestly I'm surprised more aren't charging $4.50 and it wouldn't be to much.

i'm with ya on that but the issue i have is when they ask 4.50 and you get PWE!!!!! 2 WEEKS LATE!!!!! And there still on here trading away and selling...PO'ED For sure.. Heaven forbid if you call them out on it also...just about makes you just want to quit all together...these folks are supposed to be are trader friends...LOL RIGHT!!! Hell the flippers do better with mailing cuz they get more money stiffing you this way!!!

No doubt I see your frustrations with that. DG

I stopped using eBay Standard Envelope for trading cards to ship out cards and I only ship with a bubble mailer now. My reason is I had a buyer report he never received the card I mailed using the cheap option and the post office couldn't use the tracking number to see where it ended up. The buyer eventually went to the post office and discovered they were holding the envelope for additional shipping charges. I followed all of the limitations and the envelope did not exceed the weight limit. The post office told the buyer they had started enforcing new shipping rules that cause the standard envelope to require more charges. This had to be an issue with the local post office more than the entire postal service but it is difficult to swallow negative feedback because of a postal worker's judgment. I use the bubble mailer to provide additional protection for my buyers and trade partners when it is more cards than can be safely mailed in a single top loader. I use PWE non-machinable for a small number of cards in a top loader and I have not run into any issues.

Shipping in a bubble envelope is crazy expensive these days. After you factor the total cost it's well above $4. The problem i run into daily buying is after figuring the shipping and tax into the total cost it's well above my buying percentage and just not worth it to me. When selling on ebay i usually have shipping set at $3.00 and just eat the rest of the cost. Never tried the eBay standard envelope method cause (1) your going to run into a small percentage of dishonest buyers (2) tracking no work (3) postage due in various locations which could cost more then the auctual selling price.

When I'm selling somebody else's cards I don't want to eat any of the cost. But Ebay changes you fees on the shipping and tax amount. So with 4.00 shipping I'm actually eating some of the cost when you count for your mailer and top loader(don't get me started) and team bag. I think when I'm selling higher end cards I may bump my shipping to 4.50. DG

Yea, ebay charges fees for the total purchase. I don't completely understand why one has to pay fees on the shipping and tax but that's a whole another topic. (why i'm i paying fees on someone else's tax amount i never see?) If your selling for others sounds like you need to raise the shipping to cover your total cost and factor in insurance on those higher end cards just to be covered.

Sad that more on Ebay aren't using the $.75 PWE w/tracking option. Can't pocket the excess charge then, I guess...
Of course some of the sellers are still charging $1.00... $1.25 for this shipping. Not all, but some. As DG said it's only .51c but I've only had a few that charge the actual shipping cost (getting charged .75c is more realistic)

I'm not against a reasonable amount for an envelope, top loader, and sleave, printer ink, whatever. Some of the sellers with the same card and $4+ shipping maybe shouldn't wonder why no one is buying and get a clue

Nope, nope, nope! I'm demanding a refund if they do this. At the very least hammer 'em on their rating! I always ask up front how they are going to ship.

Most of us are friendly and do each other right. Treat one another as we wish to be treated.

I absolutely agree. I have no problem paying the $1 or so shipping just because I want the card. But do not charge me $4 and pwe (as someboody already mentioned).

I also get ticked when you hear people whining about not selling anything and yet have poor shipping. Get a clue indeed!

eBay shipping is trash! On several occasions I have received notifications that my card was delivered and I check the mail and there's nothing there so I look at where it was delivered and it was delivered over 30 miles away from where I live. Sometimes the next day or two it shows up at my house sometimes it doesn't and I have had to receive a refund on 3 different occasions all since the payment changes and when I sell I only offer free shipping to keep ebay's filthy mits off of even more money then they already take. I use stamps.com I don't pay more than $3.46 cents for bubble mailer w/tracking and with the monthly fee they charge pays for itself just in the postage cost you save alone plus you get a free scale and access to unlimited free shipping supplies like boxes. I have used it for over six months and I love it I save money and I basically have my own post office in my home! You can't beat that.

pay pal and ebay have the same discounted rates for shipping when postage is purchased and paid for online and with no monthly fee tacked on and when i've needed boxes to ship larger items i've always been able to order them directly from the usps which delivers them for free as well....that said , i dont care for ebay shipping but i do love pay pal shipping....just hope that remains the case since pay pal has just turned their shipping over to shipstation ...

30 miles is tough, but try 75 miles! Mine always has "Out for delivery St. Louis". I live 75 miles from St. Louis.
Each and every time it has been in my mailbox. *knock on wood* Which makes me nervous for anything I have for future incoming.

I have only bought $1-$2 cards this way though, nothing high dollar. (I would like to believe no seller would send a high dollar card this way.... but these days you never know!)
