I'd never heard of him before so I looked him up. Shockingly he died at age 31 from a rock climbing accident. Holy crap!!!!
Yup... very sad! To me the 3 most most shocking recent passings of exNFLers were him, Marion Barber, and Ryan Mallett...
I think both Escobar and his climbing partner died on the fall. Might be wrong...

You are correct about the climbing partner dying as well. I knew about Mallett but had no idea about Barber. Here is what I found on Wikipedia on Barber's passing.

Barber was found dead in his apartment in Frisco, Texas on June 1, 2022, at the age of 38.[28] An autopsy revealed that Barber died of heat stroke; according to police, he often exercised in "sauna-like conditions", and he had set the thermostat in his apartment to 91 °F (33 °C) before he died. His death was ruled an accident.[29]

DANG! Setting the thernostat to 91 degrees in June in Texas!

I think Barber's dad was the star running back at the University of Minnesota when I went to MSU.

Update: Upon further review Marion Barber III's dad indeed played at the University of Minnesota the same exact years I was at MSU. I've known that name for a long, long time.

Barber did that all the time... I'm curious why that day was different.
They were all accidental which makes it an even tougher loss. What if Ryan was 5 feet closer to the beach? What if Gavin went on a different route that day? What if Marion only set the thermostat to 89?

MLB player Lyman Bostock's death was a awful too........He died in the 1970's or early '80's I think........Sudden deaths always make you think life is way to short..........

Shot to death by a jealous husband who was trying to kill his wife. Bostock just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time as he was not involved with the intended target. That was huge news back when it happened. ,311 career hitter and All Starish level player

The saddest premature sports death I can think of was Kansas City Chiefs running back Joe Delaney, who looked like he was going to be a big time star. He jumped in a deep water hole trying to save 3 children who were drowning despite the fact he could not swim. One child was saved but the other two and Joe Delaney downed. That was Congressional Medal of Honor bravery on his part.
