Great set with the colors on the trim corresponding to particular teams (Yellow-Tigers, Red-Yankees,
light purple-Angels, Gray-Indians etc.) Another set with great fronts and awesome orange and white backs! Topps designers had it all going on in the late 60s.
This card Robby is pictured in his Reds uniform, I believe…..They traded him to Baltimore because he was an old 30 year old, according to my Dad……They got back Milt Pappas and a couple pitchers in one of the most lopsided trades in history……If I’m not mistaken, he won the Triple Crown in ‘66…..

You are correct. And he won the AL MVP and the World Series in 1966 as well. It is always strange for me to see him in a Reds uniform and Lou Brock in a Cubs uniform (another historic lopsided trade) sine I started collecting baseball cards in 1966.

One way baseball has changed is fans "back in the day" knew the magic numbers. Ruth had 714 homers, Mays 660 and Robinson 586. I could not tell you how many home runs Bonds, McGwire, Pujols etc hit and I bet most current baseball fans could not either.

Michael Jackson had a small concert here of about 98,000 people but made them watch a football game before and after he performed. Kind of a jerk move if you ask me...
And the NFL has sucked ever since. I hate those halftime shows. Kurt Cobain was right when he said "Here we are now, entertain us". Every second has to be filled with someting to entertain and occupy the empty minds of today.

I was watching a documentary and that halftime show came up. It was Jackson's idea to stand like a statue before starting. He wanted to build suspense.... it said his cue to start playback was when he turned his head. I think he stood there for about 5 minutes! The producer was yelling at the screen in the truck for him to start... he finally turned and put on the best halftime show ever! Not sure if it's true, but I read somewhere that players left the locker room and went so they could watch his show.

Without checking, I think Aaron hit 755 and Pujols just a couple over 700.......Went to a game in St. Louis (UGH), with my wife on her birthday in early September, the last year he played.......Each AB he was swinging for the fences, I think he was 697 or 698 at the time........

Yep. Worked one of the Banana Ball games at American Family Field, last weekend and my god it was non stop music/screaming announcers and basic all around chaos. I was at the escalator on Terrace level where there isn't any close by monitors so it was just audio assault.

I think Bonds ended with 768. But yeah not totally sure

Right...I initially thought of it as Globetrotter baseball, but it was just non stop music and yelling by the announcers. But there was 45 thousand people there.

One lady while I was outside, came up to me asking where the best entrance was to get to the Miller Lite Landing, which is a 300 level seat under Bernie Brewers slide. ( basically bleacher seats). After I told her the best way to get there, I happened to notice how much she paid for tickets, and just for guesses I would not pay this much for World Series tickets in the bleachers....any guesses?

$1500

Not for uncomfortable bleacher seats
I hear ya. I say that about the SB.... nose bleeds for $2500 or higher. Nahhh. I'll stay home. Friends are like but you can say you were there! I can say that even if I wasn't!! No one's gunna be like, I didn't see you, you're a liar!

I think it was for the SB before tge Cardinals v Steelers that was in Phoenix my dad, who was a Cardinals STH said his seat was at face value about 4x what he paid for regular season games. It's so out of control

But he was THERE on that epic James Harrison run back!! (I was too...🥸)

I know the answer was $150 but I would have guessed $50 since the owner says he tries to keep ticket prices low. Was the $150 face value or the price on the secondary market (aka scalpers)?

I know i am the "Get off my lawn" guy on this board but I do not get the Savannah Bananas at all from the clips I've seen.. Your descripton of an audio assault i am sure is 100% accurate. What is with all the hype guy DJs at all major sporting events anyways? My friend says every major college program has live DJs at their hme football and basketball games. Why? For who? For What? "MAKE SOME NOISE! "****!!!!"

I'm not saying entertainment businesses are not smart to expand their fan base but the wider the audience they cater to, the less I care about them.

You were close on Bonds with 668 home runs as he has 762. I would have guessed higher myself. Metsman1986 was spot on with Aaron at 755 and I would have coin flipped between 755 and 756.

Back to listening to my conspiracy theory podcast. And remember just because it is a conspiracy theory doesn't mean it ain't true.
