Great set! I usually don't like sets with artificial backgrounds but 1969 Topps football is an exception. Interesting how series 1 cards had no borders and series 2s had white borders, While series 2s are not as hard to find as high numbers in that era's baseball sets, I've always had more trouble coming up with series 2s for that year.
And Scobes's post serves as a reminder to price out some 1969 and 1970s Topps football cards I recently pulled for a non Benchie's want lists. As a matter of fact, a member here from "the mean streets of McGehee, Arkansas" kindly just gave me the BVs for the 1969s last week and the 1970s a week before that. So I need to quit dilly-dallying and price these cards out.
Man oh man, procrastinating really is my super skill! And that is the first time I've ever posted the term "dilly-dallying' for those of you keeping score at home.......and I know you are! LMAO!!!

This was the last card i needed for my 1986 set originally in the fall of 86. My buddy found it around Thanksgiving, and absolutely fleeced me, getting a 1982 Fleer Cal Ripken rookie. Always will be a jab in the heart.
Ouch! Funny how we remember that very last, elusive card for a set decades later.
Right, my brother's friend had completed the 1985 set and the last card he needed was Dave Collins, he didn't end up finding it until mid July of 1986. I made a bet with him that i could finish 86 quicker and i did...
1986 Topps holds a special place in my heart as it was my first baseball set I remember. I was 6 years old in '86. The neighbor kid down the street gave me my first card - 1986 Topps Jerry Don Gleaton. I vividly remember the black and white of the border and the bold lettering and color of the team name. I remember being at Woolworths searching through rack packs and cellos for Phillies on top. Good times!

Yeah i remember seeing the first packs that year at Kmart, probably around the first week in February. I remember buying about 10 packs and was stoked cause i got the Vince Coleman. If topps had added just a couple rookies from update, into the flagship, 86 stands along with 85 and 87....
As I'm building my Topps sets needs by decade I've decided to post one card from each set as I put my lists together. The 80's are down to a handful of needs. This is more than likely the most wanted card of the 87 set. Everyone loves it because of the woodgrain border and it's Bo, cause he knows...
Since this is the most wanted card in the 1987 Topps set, I wish somebody would want some of mine. I have an astounding FORTY SEVEN duplicates of this card. How I got so many of this card i have no idea since I never purposely bought or traded for one of them. It is not like I bought a ton of 1987 Topps when they came out either as I was chasing the allegedly rare 1987 Donruss issue.. I don't have more than 5 or 6 Barry Bonds RCs from this set so I am mystified as to how I have so many of this particular card.
Could it be, perhaps, that everyone else in the world has 47 copies of it also? I guess i could have said one of the most wanted cards of the 87 set....
I, in 88 had sent Bo this one and his 88 Donruss for autos. Got them back signed, and they looked pretty legit. But ended up trading both over the years. The fall of 87 our LCS' had boatloads of 87 Twins team sets as our surprise World Series champions had people in a frenzy. A couple years ago i told a friend when we were reminiscing about that run, if you showed me any part of an 87 Twins card, what ever company it was could tell you who it was and what brand almost instantly.
