I've never been a 420 guy but I like to use some of the slang in a humorous manner. I still can't figure out why Valley of the Sun falls under that category. Whatever genre/sub genre thay fall under, their sound very much appeals to me.
And they're from Cincinnati, go figure.......The antithesis of desert country........

It's about 15 minutes from me and I never go.......It's in the "hood".......Back in the day it use to be a nice place.........
I never felt that way the weekend we spent in Memphis. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on EP Boulevard, went to Graceland that Friday, my brother and I walked around the neighborhood that night, did the Lorraine Motel/Rock n Soul Museum and a Grizzlies game and spent a couple hours on Beale Street in between on Halloween weekend. Actually felt more secure that weekend in Memphis than I ever do in downtown Milwaukee at night. Might have just got lucky but felt the whole town just had a different but good vibe.

The police are pretty great when it comes to the tourist spots.......Last year there were only 297 homicides, down from 2023 when there were 399.......Crime rates per capita, Memphis is #1 and Milwaukee is #11........Maybe I'm jaded or should just stop watching local news........

That is fair. It's probably the same for me here. You get jaded cause all you hear about is the bad stuff.

Close, I think it's downtown somewhere........Maybe it intersects B.B. King Drive.......
I think it is on Issac Hayes Blvd. Talkin' about Shaft ya'll! He's a bad moth...........HUSH YOUR MOUTH!

Speaking of Issac Hayes and crime in Memphis there is a hilarious story in the ABA biography "Loose Balls" where he wanted to buy into the Memphis Franchise. One of the front office people for the Memphis Tams/Sounds/Pros or whatever they were called that year......went into downown Memphis to meet him at his Stax Records headquarters to discuss him investing in the team. Hayes gave the managment guy a paper bag filled with cash and figured it was all good. He managemnt guy said "I'm a white guy and I'm not leving here with a paper bag full of cash at night!' Needless to say the deal fell through and Stax Records went belly up a few months later.

I so wish Issac Hayes had become an invstor in the ABA Memphis franchise. That would have made the ABA even more interesting than it already was............and it was indeed already EXCEPTIONALLY interesting!

I don't think there's a street named after "Chef" as I remember him from South Park........Of course Shaft is legendary.........Attaching a photo of his head stone I shot while doing a video project of Memphis boneyards.........

I only knew him from South Park but that show had a huge influence on me (both good and bad) and Chef was always the moral compass... except when he got brainwashed by "that fruity little club." Anyways... I quote his character often... like entering a room of friends I usually greet everyone at the same time saying, "Hello there, children!"

You and Metsman are talking abut Chef and I'm talking about SHAFT!!! Can you dig it?

I just listened to the original Theme from Shaft and there is one stanza in that song I can't believe was played on radio. It's pretty much about Shaft's.........ummmm........how doI say this........prowess. How they got away with this over a half century ago is truely astounding and it still makes me LMAO!!!

What is next, a side topic about Super Fly? I can only hope LMAO!!!
