Talk about a great HOF caliber player that is totally forgotten, it is this guy!
Unlike football, baseball does not usually reward peak players with entry to the HoF. Kiner and Koufax are the exception, not the rule. Hence, no Murphy, Garvey, Santana, or Belle. Perhaps Richie Allen's recent enshrinement will cause some reconsideration for players whose 7-10 yr peaks put them at the very summit of the game. If Utley makes it, then others by all rights should follow - Pedroia, Wright, etc.
Plus the writers hated Belle because he was so unpleasant.

A cool little oddball item... plastic card from 1976 showing George Andrie, Lee Roy Jordan, and Bob Lilly. Description called it a "popsicle card" whatever that means... I just thought it was neat.
I wish I knew how these were distributed as I always come across complete sets. My thought is you mailed in money and box tops to get them. I don't think they came with individual popcicles or even in boxes of them.

I do agree that is a cool oddball item. All 28 teams had a card like these. And I just realized that these have the team logos unlike Topps who did not get rights to them until 1982. Amazing!

Here is what Beckett says about set:

This set of 28 teams is printed on plastic material similar to that found on thin credit cards. There is a variation on the New York Giants card; one version shows the helmet logo as Giants and the other shows it as New York. The title card appears to be short-printed and reads, "Pro Quarterback, Pro Football's Leading Magazine". The cards measure approximately 3 3/8" by 2 1/8", have rounded corners, and are slightly thinner than a credit card. Below the NFL logo and the team, the front features a color helmet shot and a color action photo. We've noted below prominent players that can be identified in the photos. The backs contais a brief team history. Some consider the new expansion teams, Tampa Bay and Seattle, to be somewhat tougher to find. The cards are unnumbered and are ordered below alphabetically by team location name. The set is considered complete with just the 28 team cards.

No blurb about how they were distributed, though.
