Ah c'mon... I'm not THAT young... Mr. Miyagi tells Daniel San to have "patience grasshopper"Woah! With philosophical takes like that, people will start calling you "Grasshopper". If you know where that nickname comes from I'll be shocked. But I'll cue up Beavis to give you a hint of where it comes from.
Close but not quite. It is from the a very famous early/mid 70's TV show called "Kung Fu" which starred David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine who was orphaned as a child and raised by Shao Lin Monks. The blind monk always called him Grasshopper. Pretty much the gist of the show was he traveled the Old West and kicked @$$ and took names where ever he found injustice. Good show actually and I'm surprised it is never on reruns.Ah c'mon... I'm not THAT young... Mr. Miyagi tells Daniel San to have "patience grasshopper"
But.... knowing you, I'm probably wrong and it comes from some obscure movie from the 70s.... lol
It always make me smile when you hear about players off season jobs. I remember hearing about former Twins pitcher AL Williams was at one point a Nigaraguan Freedom Fighter. Not sure if thar was an off season deal or something he did before he got drafted but, fascinating nonethelessWorking on a farm in the off season back then may not have been all that far fetched. About 5 or 6 months ago Scobes posted a pic of a late 1960s card of Dennis Hull of the Chicago Blackhawks as well as Bobby Hull's brother. He was an NHL All Star and the back of his card read "Dennis works on a farm in the off season". WHAT? That was just amazing to read! I wonder which was harder, the NHL regular season or the off season?
Dang! I did not know that but it is on his Wikipedia page, That iis even tougher than farm work!!!It always make me smile when you hear about players off season jobs. Kung-Fu... was that the one with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker? lmaoClose but not quite. Believe it or not I've never seen "Karate Kid" but know that Mr. Miyagi is a character from that movie (movies?). "Karate Kid" is far too modern of a movie for me..........which is not all that much of an exaggeration!. LMAO!!
How 'bout Walt Garrison? A pro Bull Rider and rancher in the 70's... Tony Casillas is also a rancher. I think Jay Novacek is too...It always make me smile when you hear about players off season jobs.
