Great HS name... name of their mascot... Warriors!!
Just found this out. So Dalworth became Grand Prairie High School when they de-segregated, and built South Grand Prairie High School. About a 20 minute drive, south, of course... Interesting thing is that GPHS changed their mascot to The Gophers and SGPHS became The Warriors.
So Charley was a Warrior, Sun Devil, and Redskin... all 3 had color combos of Maroon/Gold!!

Are u wondering why its numbered to/109?
Ooohhhhh...... I see what you're saying now! Who would you rather see them compare Marv to? Lynn Swann? I believe he was #88 as well...
Just always looking for a cheap shot at the Cowboys to make sure you're paying attention 😉

The Cowboys had a knack of drafting great HOF caliber players from obscure colleges.. Leon Lett (Empoia), Erik Williams (Central State) are two prime examples of HOF level talents that did not make the Hall for varying reasons, Larry Allen (Sonoma State) however did make the HOF. For all the talk of the Triplets, the Cowboys draft success was very possibly the biggest reason they had that 1990s dynasty.

And how do you suppose they got all those picks???

Thanks to the Vikings and Herchel. Still they had to pick the right guys and more often then not, they did. None of those guys were the glamor picks but they produced much more than the more heralded players that were drafted earlier.

Can you imagine the screeching from the pundits if they drafted an all time great Larry Allen in the first round? The so called "draft experts" would have gone crazy. I still LMAO at how the pundits slammed the Giants for drafting Saquon Barkley over Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen. And both of those guys were rated above Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson in that particular draft.

That's why I never pay attention to the mock drafts. I wait till the rounds are over and write down all the picks. I do get notified on my phone about a few teams... but in general, I rarely pay attention to the draft. I don't follow college ball very well, and now that they can just decide to up and transfer for money I won't be watching it at all. Most of them barely get degrees anyway (the ones that KNOW they'll be in the NFL), so why not just call it Minor League Football?
But ya... that trade got The Cowboys 5 players AND 8 draft picks!!! Emmitt, Darren Woodson, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith were the key draftees and Issiac Holt was a send over who contributed alot.
And then what happened??? lmao.... Herschel Walker came back to Dallas in 1996!! He should write a book about how to be humble and have humility.

I don't remember a guy named Darren Nelson.... how long was he with The Cowboys? A day?

That front office must've been really REALLY high when they agreed to it...
Yeah it's darn near 40 years later and it still hurts to talk about it. Minnesota and Dallas haven't really been friendly on sports field. Hail Mary, Tony Dorsett's 99 yard touchdown run on MNF, Herschel Walker, then you all give Norm Green a sweetheart deal at Reunion Arena and steal our Hockey team!! The only good thing between the two I can remember is the Twins beating the Rangers on the road in 87 to clinch the division

"In 1989, he staged an acrimonious contract holdout and lost his starting position to D.J. Dozier.[3] On October 12, Nelson was traded to the Dallas Cowboys as part of the Herschel Walker Trade. At the time he had appeared in 5 games as a backup, registering 67 carries for 321 yards and 38 receptions for 380 yards."
