Most disappointing player to get a g/u card of?

Who is the one guy that you get a g/u card of in a box break that disappoints you the most? For me, it's Carlos Delgado. It seems like every 3 or 4th box that I break, a Carlos Delgado g/u appears.

    Question about a 2009 Topps T206 mini

Here is a pic: DO you notice the white card a little past 1/3 of the way down? It is a Hanley Ramirez mini, but the front and back don't look any different. It doesn't have a different back, it isn't #ed, it isn't thicker. The only difference is that the sides are bright white, whereas the...

I'd like to chat with a card store owner

I've been dreaming of owning my own card shop since I made my first visit to one in 1983. I'm almost there, but before I jump, I want to ask someone that has a small shop a few questions related to dealings with the companies themselves. Thank you in advance for any insight.

1 Reason I love my wife

Thanks to all. I took it to a Michael's Arts and crafts, and they wanted $355 to shadowbox it. I'll either build a shadowbox myself or throw it in my fire-proof safe.

1 Reason I love my wife

My wife does some traveling for her work. She goes to different food manufacturing plants that her company does business with. One of the plant managers has a relative in the Phoenix Suns Game Day Operations staff. He had a Nash jersey framed in his office. My wife saw it, and mentioned how I...

HOw many mis-slabbed cards have you seen?

Thanks for the story and link. I sent 6 cards to PSA. One was a 72 Fisk/Cooper Rc. One was a 1970 RBI Leaders. I put on the form not to slab the Fisk if it was lower than 8. They put the 72 Fisk RC in the slab that the 70 RBI Ldrs was supposed to be in, and sent me the 70 RBI Ldrs in a hard...

Pulling up your posts from title page?

But you aren't automatically subscribed to a thread just by making a post, and there is no direct way to make one click to your profile. Right now, I scroll to the bottom of the main page to "Current Active users", and click my ID, then go to my posts. Just seeing if there was a different way...

What active player is the hardest to trade for?

This might be my longest thread yet. I did say "star", to back up the nice person that re-iterated that. I consider Buehrle a star (135 wins by age 30, with Glavine/Jack Morris-type numbers, a no-no and a perfect game, and a ring). I guess that is arguable). ANyway, no drama needed. Just...

What active player is the hardest to trade for?

On your time here at The Bench, which currently active star player do you think is the hardeat to trade for? Take Jeter for example: Popular guy, and many people collect him. You'd think it would be hard to find Jeter stuff to trade for....... yet if you look, you usually can find something you...

    But Shipping Is Free ...

This reminds me of the other stuff......... 92 Topps Archives Basketball does not, in fact, have Michael Jordan RC's in them. They took the baseball card format and applied it to some of the NBA Rookies of those years to see what it would look like for those years that they didn't have a...

Can you make $30,000/year in the business?

I'm not thinking of owning/operating a place, but the idea of one is a cool thing to think about every now and again. There used to be a few card shops in Saint Louis, but the numbers are dwindling. I just wonder about the guys here that stick it out. Are they just selling Cardinals...

Can you make $30,000/year in the business?

Is it possible to make $30,000/year in the business? This would be a web/card show/ebay business. No retail location. No warehousing. Taxes and Beckett online subscriptions are your only costs outside of travel and card show table costs. What do you think?

What do you do? Money vs. love?

I'm here in Saint Louis, MO. I have been a basketball fan since I was 6-7 years old. I even bought a box of 86-7 Fleer for $5 at a card show in 1988 (wish I still had it.....long story). Anyway, I'm sitting here in 2009. I've spent the last 15 years collecting cards of NBA players (or NBA...
