This is sad news all around. Most people hear are top notch...try not to let those couple bad apples ruin it for you. If you do leave, best wishes for you. Rather you would hang around, if you will tho.

Carl

Sad to hear the news. As Casket mentioned above about the apples, get rid of the bad ones and keep the good ones.
Sorry to see you go. God bless you in whatever you choose. Butch

You should have reported the incident to the mods that's considered harassment under the bench policy and especially coming from 2 established members --When all e;se fails the good ole ignore option works

This might be the best post in the thread. If there is an issue (any issue), send it to the Moderator team, that is why we are here. The other option of ignore is a good one as well. Nothing worse than having someone else suck the joy out of this hobby.

We have traded and sent free cards many times - never want to see the good traders move on from this site, especially since so many have started coming back since @Mike121 took over.

Yesterday I was told by a trader that has been on here for a long time that he was not here to make a trade with me that would make me happy but was on here for his own personal gratification. And then a new trader chimed in with I needed to get a life that this was just a hobby. So I have decided to move on from here.
I do want to thank all of the traders on here that did make trades with me over the years. And I will be back on a few times over the next few weeks because I do have a few trades pending. But otherwise good-bye.
Well it takes two to make a trade and i'm pretty sure both sides have to be happy about it to make it happen. I wouldn't let it get to you and just move on to the next trade. This is a hobby and it's suppose to be fun... Any where you go there will be people like that and a good portion of traders are members of a handful of other trading sites. This site has lots to offer and has some really good loyal members. Like someone mentioned above use the ignore button if needed.

Sometimes trades don't go the way you want them to and you just have to say "thanks anyway" and move on instead of getting pissed over it. As many long-time Benchies can attest, the old me would have reacted this way but with age comes wisdom but to leave this site over it is laughable. Just drop it,apologize and keep on keeping on here at The Bench.

Stan - I read the thread before it got deleted and on it's surface I'm not understanding the anger from you unless there's something going on under that surface that we're not aware of.

Why instead of quiting, we should apply a filter on usage and if you create havoc or an unpleasant experience you go in time out and or removed. Wouldn't that help everyone's experiences??

Like the hockey penalty box? Maybe we could create a slush that offenders have to contribute cards to in order to get reinstated.

The Bench does have that. In the FAQ, there is an outline of what is considered to be unacceptable behavior. The MOD team is able to put members who don't abide by those rules in timeout, or worse, depending on the severity of the behavior.

We do our best, but we don't see everything, especially if it is in private messages. The only way we can react to issues, is if we know about issues.

Yes, is there anyways to resolve @scc76 issue so he can feel like his challenges are addressed. Hate to see good traders get driven away

This will be my last post that I do as far as any negativity....

Most of us are missing the point on why some of us are leaving the trading side of the hobby, as I have talked to a few of my fellow long timers on here about this...the main reason we are getting out of this part of the hobby are because of the bad attitudes and the way some of these long time members are communicating with us, we are talking about members that we have never ever had any issues with over the last decade, suddenly have became mean and nasty...there is no resolving an issue when people have become grumpy and miserable as they move through life...I for one will never become that type of man nor will I deal with your drama and attitude.....yes there are bad apples, but “a few bad apples spoil the whole barrel”

Stan,

I'm not sure if we've ever traded before, but don't let people run you off. I'm here for fun and to me it is just a hobby. Like someone said, I don't have all the latest and greatest cards, and so I have a hard time finding people to trade with. If it wasn't for Bryon (mm1sub), I'm not sure I'd trade with anyone. lol I've gotten to the point where I don't care about BV anymore, although I know a lot of people aren't like that. I will trade $30-40 in other people's favor, as long as we're both happy with the trade. I have so many cards that I just want to get rid of them. Be patient and just find like-minded people to trade with. Don't let a few turds run you off.

Paul

After a 20 yr absence from the hobby I've come across many jackalopes that seem to think fair=lopsided to thier advantage, or only where "fair"means an opportunity that makes them $$ by flipping. On one hand I think..."what's the world coming to? "What does it all mean?" "Is it even worth collecting cards"....on the other hand I think "what a jackalope! Next!"

War Eagle, Stan. Don't quit. I've had similar feelings. Remember when The Bench was packed with users? You could find ANYTHING on here, and that was the best! I completed sets and found some obscure cards for my player pc (Clete Thomas... again, War Eagle!)

While the site has changed, the hobby has also. From what I have noticed, there are lots of folks looking to move faster. Whether it's to flip, stash, etc., that's none of my business. However, I feel this "speed" can lead to thoughtlessness. When cards have high demand, folks may not care to provide the best service. As someone who has hardly any new product, I've spent my time "lurking" - in case a post pops up from someone who has a want/item i can hit/deal for.

We've all been guilty of incorrectly inferring tone from typed words. I'd hate that to be the reason you left. Nothing wrong with taking a reprieve! I can use some company - and another Auburn alum - in the "land of the lurking." :)

I love this post! I've felt like this for a long time now! Lurking in the shadows, just waiting for a Tony Parker card to show its face. I used to get trades for my Tony Parker PC all the time. It was nothing to do a trade a week. These days it's become increasingly more difficult to find one a month! Here lately has been good, and I'm hoping it keeps up, but the last several years haven't seen too many additions. It could be because the more I get, the less I need, and I'm sure that does play a small role. However, as many holes as I have to fill, I think it has more to do with the fact that there just aren't as many folks as interested in small trades for plain base/inserts, or even just plain relics anymore.

Anyways, this was just a long way for me to say, you're not alone!

Stanley, you seem resolute with your desire to leave the bench and I'm sorry to see you go.............We've had five trades in the last 15 years since both of us joined in 2006 and they have all helped us out in our set building...............It has been an honor and privilege trading with you, my friend, even though you you went to Auburn...........Hee-Hee..........

Stan, we've traded at least a couple of times and always a great transaction! I've read almost all of these posts and they all say the same thing, never mind the idiots - but be sure before you leave share the info with the Mods - Katester is right, if they don't know about it, they can't do anything about it. Not everyone is like that trust me, you're a good man.

An oh by the way, no, I don't have any Mike Trouts to trade to help me complete that 89 Topps set :poop::LOL:

Non illegitimi carborundum.

I haven't dealt with you at all but I know I've seen you around on the forum quite a bit. Don't let some jerk(s) run you off.

Like many who have commented here, I'm not as active as I used to be. I was mostly around the TTM forums and it's bordering upon being dead there. Unfortunately, the hobby always goes through phases and right now we're in one where the toolbags dominate. Don't let them affect it.

But at the same time, moderators: step up and do something about it. You can't let some dollar-chasing newjacks who will be out of the hobby the moment something more lucrative and cool comes along to drive off someone who by all accounts here is a solid member. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather miss out on ten new members than to have a long-time one get run off through my own inaction.
