I hear ya! I leave the grading of new cards to the guys that open packs and send in their hits directly after opening them... I enjoy finding gems of the 90s (like that Manning Leaf R&S RC) more than anything from the past 15 years.
Luis Arraez is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. He is one of three career .300 hitters currently and has won several batting titles. I've never seen anyone here ask for his cards where if he played in the 80s or 90s everyone would be. It seems to be only home runs that anyone cares about. Every topic here seems to be Judge, Ohtani, Trout and a handful of others. In football everyone chases the hot QBs and no one else. Chasing thje market is not a recipei for long term success in building a quality collection at a LOW price. .
I loved Arraez, as a Twins Fan especially cause he really had come out of nowhere in 19. We got Pablo from the Marlins for him, so the trade was good for both sides, however...it would be nice to have a guy who could get on base more than a quarter of the time...

If we learned anything from the Dodgers 2025 season, it's that a solid starting rotation can shut down the opposition. And Yamamoto showed it's better to leave the starter go 8 or even 9 than trust yourself to a bunch of hard throwing guys who flame out after one or two good years.
Like the Orioles rotation in the 1970's..........Not like Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard........

Talk about how running backs are devalued in card collecting these days. I've never een anyone want this guy's cards despite him being an historic running back. That is just shocking to me. If you are not a QB, no one cares about your cards. It was not all that long ago when Barry and Emmitt were as sought after as Elway, Marino and Montana. Heck for most of the 90s they were even more sought after. Those days are gone.
I try and trade for decent cards of Henry's when I see them, and this one was just too cool to pass up... the position has become a dime-a-dozen type position with almost every team using a turnstile approach. There are very few bellcow backs in the league now. Getting 20 touches per game is practically non-existant now for RB's... I think that has alot to do with them not being collected as much. I'm happy to see The Cowboys negotiating with Javonte Williams to get a contract for him to stay a bit longer.... but we all know how settling on a price with Almighty Jerry can go.
