I love this thread every year. I wish I actually had new goals in 2011 but my card budget is less than what it used to be. So 2011 will bring the following:

To be completed:

1. 2006-07 MVP hockey
2. 2008-09 OPC and OPC Update hockey
3. 2007 Bowman Chrome prospects baseball
4. 2009 Bowman Chrome prospects baseball
5. 2007-08 Fleer basketball

To be worked on:

1. 2008 Topps Heritage baseball SP's
2. 2008 Topps Updates & Highlights
3. 2008-09 OPC 1979-80 retros
4. All of the Fleer retro basketball from 2006-07 to 2008-09
5. 2008 Topps Chrome football
6. 2007-08 Bowman and Bowman Chrome basketball
7. 2007 Bowman Prospects autos

I think that is everything. Most of this is going to be on a $20/month budget so I will be visiting Sportslots a lot in 2011. I'm also hoping to trade more this year and maybe even get to the HoF here.

Happy collecting in 2011 everybody.

My goal is
25 more 1909-1911 T-206s (which will leave me 70 cards left to get)
buy a few more boxes than I did last year approx 2-4 boxes a month
try to hit 50+ trades on this site.

2011 collecting goals:

1) finish off 08 Documentary Master Set
2) expand my McGwire and Cunningham collections

Most of my 2011 goals involve long-overdue discipline:

1) Reduce my retail purchases! Beyond clutter, there's very little to show for it!

2) Organize my Indians, Steelers and Pirates collections so my wants are exact making my trades more productive. (I currently trade for "anything" of my teams)

3) Stop buying trade bait and start trading it! I have a bad habit of buying items that are popular and I know I can use towards things I want. Then, I don't offer them for trade! There's something deeply psychological behind this and I'm not sure I want to know what it is! :)

And, everyone needs an unrealistic goal...

*** 5000 different Jim Thome cards (currently nearing 3800) ***

Perhaps with more discipline, it can be reached!

Goals for 2011

(1) Reach 80% completion for Paul O'Neill (need ~45 more cards)
(2) Research 50s/60s Topps prices and start picking up vintage Yankees
(3) Start collecting 2001-now Topps & Bowman Heritage Yankees team sets
(4) Sort through and move all my Yankee dupes/commons
(5) Add a Bernie Williams and/or Derek Jeter auto to the PC
(6) Somehow get a Mariano Rivera PSA Basic Cards registry added to psacards.com
(7) Sell more than I spend

I really enjoy reading this thread, though I've never ponied up and actually made any goals for myself in previous years.

My goals for 2011:

1. Complete the 2011 Topps set
2. Go back and finish at least 10 basic sets from the '80's and '90's
3. Finish one set that includes SP's (Either my 08 Goudey or 07 Turkey Red Set)
4. Reach 200 trades
5. Have enough posts by the end of the year to make the Bench HOF!

2011 Collecting Goals

1. Complete the 2011 Topps base and Update series (and one for my daughter).
2. Plug away on my 1970 Topps baseball set (33/720 or 4.5%). I need some inspiration here.
3. Work on Carl Furillo player collection by atleast getting his Topps run 1956 - 1960.
4. Finish up the variations on 1973 Topps (4), 1989 Topps (1) and 1991 Topps (4).
5. Continue to catalog and scan.

Good Luck everyone with your goals,
Marvin

First time publishing my goals. They may seem small but considering my wife and I are expecting our first baby this spring I will feel very good about hitting them!

For 2011 My goals:
1. Complete my Allen and Ginter base sets. Purchase the 2006 set, I need about 100 Cards for 2008, and less than 20 cards for 2009.

2. Reach 50 different Milwaukee Brewer game used and 10 different Milwaukee Brewer certified autos. Currently 25 game used and 4 certified autos.

3. Help my fellow Benchies when I can with their team/player/set needs.

Have a great New Year everyone!

Frank

Great thread! My goals for 2011 are as follows...

1) Acquire a Walter Payton autograph

2) Continue working on my San Francisco Giants World Series roster on card autograph collection...

3) Continue to recruit as many young people into the hobby as possible...

4) Continue to harass the card companies into putting out quality releases, which means no redemptions, no sticker autos, and no undrafted rookies included as "hits"....

5) Work on my mancave and do a better job of displaying my collection....

Going to try and set some reasonable goals this year:

1) Get to 90% complete on my 1972 Topps set. Need 70 cards to reach that goal.
2) Get to 75% complete on my 1971 set. Need 60 cards to get there.
3) Get to 90% complete on my 1960 Topps set. Need 100 cards to get there so this one may be a reach.
4) Finally complete my 1975 SSPC set. Only 12 cards short on that one.
5) Complete my 1964 Topps Giants, 1968 Topps Game, 1969 Topps Deckle, 1970 Topps Story Booklets, and 1977 Topps Cloth sets. Only about 40 cards short but most of them are the big ones.

It may be a little expensive to try and complete these goals but a lot of the challenge will be actually finding them.

Good luck to everyone with their collections in the next year and happy collecting!!

Bryon

1. Finish my 1968 Topps set.
2. Complete at least 3/4 of Topps sets from 1980-present.
3. Begin a 1957 Topps set.
4. Add more to my Dale Murphy and John Smoltz collections.

1. Keep chipping away at my needs list.
2. Try for the 2011 Heritage black refractor set
3. Build some good A&G numbered card lots.

Since I'm restarting my Gwynn collection, I'd like to hit 10% of his cards by years end. That would be about 750-800 cards at that point.

:D

Well mine are mostly the same as last year, but here they are with a couple new ones:

--Get to 200 different GU of Chipper (currently at 164)
--Get to 50 certified autos of Oswalt (currently at 26)
--Get to 200 on my signed 2005 Bowman Heritage set (currently at 178/349)
--Finish my signed 2006 Bowman Heritage Prospects set (currently at 71/100)
--Get to 75% of Jeff Brantley cards. I am at 130 cards (53%) thus needing 53 more cards to put me at 75%.

Organizational goals:
--Get all of my commons sorted and organized alphabetical.
--Get an exact count of my Chippers.
--Make a spreadsheet of all my IP & TTM autos (over 1,000 cards) well over half way with this one.
--Scan all of my Braves/LSU alum/Mississippi athletes collection

I usually come up with goals, but rarely check to see how I am doing. So in order of importance, here we go:

1. Actually try to meet my goals
2. Add 171 Biggio cards to hit 2000
3. Add 35 Astros Autos to collection
4. Add 100 Bagwell cards to collection
5. Add 100 cards to my UNT football collection
6. Add 25 cards to my Gerald Green collection
7. Add 300 cards to my Texans RC collection
8. Add 300 different cards to my basketball collection.

9. Organize my Astros RC collection so I can figure out what I need. Work on my website to house my wantlists.

Thanks,

Craig
