The 2011 Collecting Goals thread

My goals are fairly similar to this year:

Pick up the 2001 SP Legendary Cuts Babe Ruth Jersey
Complete one of my vintage sets
Complete all of my modern sets
Win the Bench BSL title

This is not much but all I am really focusing on

Just decided to limit my collection to New York teams in all sports, so now I will have to go thru my albums and take out any non-New York cards and decide how i want to get rid of them.

I will also have to go thru my old albums and re-do them, separating the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants into separate collections, now they are mixed with all my old card that arent Yankees.

I will keep any cards i like of players who are not shown on a New York team but spent some time on a New York team. Again, only cards i like, not all cards of anybody who played for New York.

I really dont have much for goals. I just really started collecting this year. I guess that my goals would be just to increase the number of cards in each of my player collections.

Nice Thread! My priorities (in this order - last one is the toughest, I'm afraid, and lowest priority )

1) Finish my Topps and Bowman Heritage Phillies team sets
2) Work on other retro Phillies team sets (A&G, Goudey, etc.)
3) Work on Target and Walmart and Gold Phillies needs
4) Finish Phillies Topps and Upper Deck base runs from 1980 on up
5) Get more organized, refile fizzled trades, etc.

I really need to find something more defined to focus on collecting! I need to clean up the clutter and consolidate (it would be a lot easier if I could just stop breaking ). I guess I'll work on adding a few more higher-end PC items (or if I'm really lucky, pull a some ).

Going to try and set some reasonable goals this year:

1) Get to 90% complete on my 1972 Topps set. Need 70 cards to reach that goal. 64 CARDS SHORT
2) Get to 75% complete on my 1971 set. Need 60 cards to get there. DONE!!
3) Get to 90% complete on my 1960 Topps set. Need 100 cards to get there so this one may be a reach. 92 CARDS SHORT
4) Finally complete my 1975 SSPC set. Only 12 cards short on that one.
5) Complete my 1964 Topps Giants, 1968 Topps Game, 1969 Topps Deckle, 1970 Topps Story Booklets, and 1977 Topps Cloth sets. Only about 40 cards short but most of them are the big ones. 25 CARDS SHORT. GETTING CLOSER!!

It may be a little expensive to try and complete these goals but a lot of the challenge will be actually finding them.

My collection varies from time-to-time since I can't keep focused. That said, I KNOW these will be goals until they are met:

- Acquire a Steve McNair autograph
- Acquire a Vince Young autograph
- Get to work on TTM autographs once again
- Pick another suitable player collection

I can finally focus on my goals:

1) Boost my haves in 1993 Stadium Club 1st Day Issue FB form 452/550 to 475+/550
2) Get my 2006 Finest Green Refractor baseball set (#/199) from 88/155 to over 100
3) Complete my 1973 set with it's last card #556 Yankees TC and get the Mantle or Ryan to start my 1969 VG grade set
4) Complete my 2004 Cracker Jack Mini with card #236a and get my 2005 CJ Sticker from 8 needed to 3 or less. Would be satisfied with getting a Mini White (one made each card)
5) Complete two of my oh so close football parallel sets from the 1990's
6) Get three of five cards needed for my second 1976 Star Trek set and post my needs in Star Trek CCGs
7) Get at least two of the four Gold/Rares needed to complete my 1997 Finest baseball set
8) Complete my 1996 Select Certified Red FB Set needing just Jerry Rice & Eddie George RC
9) Knock each of my Superior football auto sets down under 8, currently at 15 from 94, 10 from 95
10) Substantial progress on 1994, 1995, 1996 Pinnacle Trophy Collection football
