I wish that Topps had displayed all the card numbers in the 1975-76 set like they did for leaders, team and any other special cards . THe regular player cards were just impossible to read with black numbers agains a dark green background. Doing it like they did on this card would have saved me a lot of time sorting this set out over the years..
I was such a mark for basketball back then I even remember John Gianelli very well when he was with the Knicks. THe Knicks always seemd to have these gangly frontcourt men back then like Gianelli and more famously Phil Jackson. Weird the stuff I remember.

What a solid pitcher. I have the SI from his 56 inning scoreless streak. I was young at the time, and didn't understand how big an achievement that was.
This card shows just how much the game has changed. Tark broke Unitas's all time passing yardage mark with 47,003 yards which was a huge deal at the time. Below is the list of the current top 20 career yardage leaders and only Tark and Fouts played in what I'd call the vintage card era. The game has made it much easier for QBS to accumulate massive passing stats due to favorable rules to offenses, pristine field conditions,, more games, better equipment etc., etc Hard to believe Tark accomplished this in the coldest, harshest enviornment in outdoor Metropolitan stadium in Minnesota.
While there are a lot of legendary names on this list there are a bunch who would hardly be considered HOFers but whose gaudy stats were a product of the modern game.
