Jim Fregosi was the Norm Snead of baseball for my youthfull card collecting days. Those two guys showed up in EVERY regular issue Topps set from the mid 60s to mid 70s. I thought they'd both play forever!

Once again the 1960's rule for having the best looking issues ever from these awesome looking 64 Topps Giants to their poster inserts to my 2 favorite sets when it comes to appearance, the 1967 and 1969 Topps sets. It was the same in football with so many of Topps and Philadelphia card sets of the 60s. with their cool team logos.

Nice one. He was a Bucco for a few years too!
I was drawing a blank on Fregosi in a Pirates uniform until I looked up his 1978 Topps double print. More like quadrupile print!!!. If I had a nickel for every 1978 Topps Jim Fregosi card I have ever owned (and still own),.......................I'd have a lot of nickels!

They must have printed a lot of him that year!

Fregosi had a nice career. 6x all-star. But he'll always be remembered as the guy the Mets traded Nolan Ryan for.
Interesting about the timing of that trade was that both Fregosi and Ryan appeared as Angels in the 1972 Topps set. I'm assuming it was because the trade had occurred on December 10, 1971 and Topps had already printed Fregosi's card which was a low number (probably 1st series ) #115. Ryan's card was a semi high (#595 I think) so that was not printed until months later and Topps was able to make the team change for him.
