Curious about your 2010 collecting goals

My collection has never really been affected by the economy given my profession. Most of my spending really is attributed to personal desire. That coupled with lengthy time away from home limits me as well.

I go through periods where I want to work on focus on Lou Gehrig, Mike Mussina, sets, by boxes/cases, Gu cards, vintage, etc all at once and others where I just pick one area for a while - Lou Gehrig is always at the forefront though. With Lou's cards being quite pricey it usually requires me to neglect other areas of my collection.

I have definitely noticed a change in my collecting habbits over the years and with Topps the only show in town now I will continue to limit it even further. Ideally I would like to complete my want list and focus entirely on Lou Gehrig, vintage sets and my Hall of Fame collection. I have doubtful that I will purchase another case and will severly limit the number of boxes. I don't have very good luck and in the past have chosen some products that I really did not fare well with; and I have probably busted 10 - 15 cases the past five years in addition to a bunch of boxes.

Cut down on the players I collect.

Just try to focus on: Josh Johnson, Dennis Northcutt, Josh McCown & Gino Guidugli and sell whatever else I can.

As for Johnson, I'd like to get a Superfractor, his '06 Bowman Sterling Red Refractor and his '06 Ultimate Dual MLB Logo with Joel Zumaya.

I did pretty horribly on my goals last year. Goals for this year:

1) SLOW DOWN on blasters and Target/Wal Mart packs. There's 2 shops in town. Support them.
2) Cubs Team Set Project is at 1519/1886. Knowing all but 5 cards are vintage, I'd like to get to 1600.
3) Pick up one Billy Williams '61 Topps Rookie
4) Pick up one Lou Brock Topps Card. There are 3 - and the Rookie is probably not happening this year.
5) I need 7/14 regular issue Ron Santos. Pick up 3 of them.
6) I need 10/18 regular issue Ernie Bankses. Pick up 2 of them.
7) Organize my Topps Gold wantlist.
8) Pick up a Banks auto, and a Maddux auto.

I've already completed two and a half of my goals for 2010. I got the last two SPs I needed to complete my 2001 Finest baseball set (Jeter and a rookie). I also completed one of my 90's football parallel sets (1995 Collector's Choice Player's Club). I also knocked my vintage needs from 60 & 35 in two sets down to 9 and 6, and got one of the four autos I need for the 2006 Finest set.

I usually do Topps football too, but now that Topps is no longer the official card of the NFL, i'm not sure what i'll do.

Pujols- currently 2259 different- looking to get to 2700
Matt Morris- currently 834 different, 1929 overall. Like to get at least 5 new ones and I would love to get to 3000 overall.
Pedro Martinez- Add at least 200 (haven't done inventory on Beckett yet)

I would like to add at least 3000 or 4000 new cards to my collection this year; all three sports. I would also like to inventory all my cards on Beckett and also list all the cards I have lying around on my trade site. In addition to these goals, I am trying to add all GU and autos to photobucket.

Lots of time and effort here.

AND, I WANT TO FIND THE MATT MORRIS/ RANDY JOHNSON STADIUM CLUB CO-SIGNERS AUTO FOR MY COLLECTION! Been looking since 1999 or so and have yet to see one... About 50 different Clemens/ Morris autos but no Johnson/ Morris.

I would love to put a set of 2010 Topps series 1 with trading only and add as many of the weird insert sets too.................That's basically what I collect..............Seriously not into the box breaks that leave me with cards that no body wants.................Can't even get rid of the golds I have..............Unless it's Jeter, Pujols, Beckham, Porcello..................The list goes on................My 1963 - 1968 vintage collections have suffered because of the $$ situation...................I need less than 200 for these sets combined...................Gotta do, what ya gotta do....................Good luck + ENJOY!
